Berea and coach Muligwe part ways

After guiding the team for two seasons, the coach of Berea FC, Mr Rofhiwa Muligwe, said goodbye to the club two weeks ago.

Muligwe joined the Zwigodini-based MMK League side at the beginning of the 2016/17 season. Berea won the league title for two seasons in a row under the guidance of Muligwe, but failed to make the grade during the promotional play-offs.

When asked about his sudden departure from Berea FC, Muligwe said that there was no bad blood between him and the club. According to him, after failing to get promotion during his two-year stay, he felt that it was time for him to search for greener pastures and allow the club to get another coach with new ideas.

Muligwe revealed that it took him less than 24 hours to find a new job after parting ways with Berea last Wednesday.

He said he would be coaching the other MMK League side, Musina All Stars, when the activities for the new season started in three months’ time.

Muligwe coached several teams, including Masisi Young Stars, Tshilamusi Super Eagles and Mutele Mountain Rangers, before joining Berea FC. He played for teams such as Tshifulanani Mighty Rock, Masisi Young Stars and Tshilamusi Super Eagles before hanging up his boots to pursue a career in coaching.

His appointment as Musina All Stars’ head coach was confirmed by the team’s managing director, Mr Donald Sebola. According to Sebola, Muligwe will be assisted by Messrs Thomani Ndou and Tenecious Ramakokovhu.

Sebola stated that the only mandate they had given Muligwe and his assistants was to ensure that the team won the league title at the end of the season and secure a place in the promotional play-offs. According to Sebola, they are busy conducting trials in a bid to beef up last season’s squad. Musina All Stars finished their league programme in the fourth position last season.
