Venda Boxing Association revived

 

The founder member for the former Venda Boxing Association, Vhamusanda Vho-Mukandangalwo Tshifovhedze Madzivhandila, invited several famous people in the boxing industry to a meeting at the Thohoyandou Arts and Culture Hall last Saturday.

According to him, the association was founded in the nineties with a view to promoting boxing at grassroots level. He said that the association had produced several boxing champions, including Philip “The Time Bomb” Ndou and Lovemore Ndou.

He further stated that the association had died a natural death as several members of the committee had left and later Vhamusanda Vho-Madzivhandila had been the only member left.

During Saturday’s meeting, a committee was elected to run the affairs of the association. Ms Thifhelimbilu Tshiruma was elected the new chairperson and Ms Tshilidzi Singo is her deputy. A well-known businessman, Mr Tshifhiwa Mabege, is the general secretary and Mr Tshilidzi Nkhumeleni is the treasurer. Mr Ephraim Simba is the manager for administration.
