Leopards part ways with technical manager and trainer

Black Leopards parted ways with their technical director, Stefano Cusin, and goalkeeper-trainer, Jean Sorini, last week.

The relationship between Black Leopards and the two staff members has been stormy over the past month. The two were hired at the beginning of the soccer season, but the contracts lasted for only three months.

Leopards’ spokesperson, Mr Berry Ramunenyiwa, confirmed the departure of the two men. According to him, Cusin and Sorini’s contracts with the club were terminated for what was termed as “irreconcilable differences”. The issue was discussed during a meeting between Black Leopards' management and the two staff members.

“We could not go ahead with them due to other reasons that we've put aside. They are no longer with us here,” said Ramunenyiwa. He added that the only person that they now had as goalkeeper-trainer was Sam Banda. “As for the others, we could no longer use them for reasons that we can’t divulge to you now. They couldn’t work; that is why they couldn’t even sit on the bench. They were not in the first team; they were in the development as we said.”

Jean Sorini indicated in an interview that his mandate with the team was clear and achievable. He revealed that his mandate was to make sure that the team played well in the Absa league. He admitted that it had not been easy for him to arrive at the decision to leave. “I did everything within my power, but as technical manager I cannot get into the field of play and kick the ball myself,” he said. Sorini said that his move would benefit both himself and the club.
