Another defeat for TTM

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) have reason to worry. They lost their second league match in a row when Maccabi FC beat them 2-0 in their NFD League match at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday.

TTM took the game to the visitors from the first whistle, with their midfielders, Onyedikachi Ononogbu, Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo and Nhlanhla Mgaga, working hard to get the ball to the strikers.

It took TTM only six minutes to realize that it was not their day. Their vastly experienced striker, Edward Maqele, went loose after a neat pass from Magaga and unleashed a half volley from the edge of the box. The ball missed the target by inches.

Maccabi gained momentum with time. They took the lead in the 18th minute. Their Zimbabwean striker, Edmore Chirambadare, was brought down within the box and the referee, Mr Siyabulela Qunta, did not hesitate to award a penalty to the visitors. Their Zambian striker, Collins Mbesuma, converted from the white spot.

Maccabi’s captain, Thepelo Tshilo, was the first player to go into the referee’s book. He tackled Aluwani “Killer” Nedzamba roughly in the 38th minute. Maccabi enjoyed a 1-0 lead until the end of the first half.

TTM replaced Mmuso Setjaba with Tefo Mokoena in the 54th minute. Maccabi’s keeper, Norman Brad, was booked for wasting time two minutes later. He held on to the ball for far too long before releasing it to the defender, Nathaniel Tladi.

TTM used their remaining two substitution chances by replacing Edward Maqele and Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo with Takalani Ratshilima and Wonderboy Makhubu respectively. Maccabi abandoned their positions and packed themselves at the back, relying mostly on counter attacks.

They increased the margin via Lebohang Mokoena five minutes before the end of the game.
