Another clean audit for SAFA Vhembe

The SAFA Vhembe Regional Football Association once again received a clean audit for the previous financial year that came to an end on 30 June 2018.

According to the financial report that was presented by the association’s treasurer, Mr Jabulani Ndove, during the association’s annual general meeting at the Masili Guest House last Saturday, SAFA Vhembe is financially stable, even though they were still to receive an annual grant from their mother body, The South African Football Association (SAFA).

When addressing the gathering, the association’s general secretary, Mr Eric Muneri, said that they were concerned about the high number of disciplinary cases their sub-committee had attended to in the previous soccer season. According to Muneri, the greatest number of cases related to the abandonment of games, assault of match officials and the fielding of improperly registered players.

He added that the association had attended to two appeals, two cases relating to allegations of bribery and five cases relating to failure to honour matches. He also stated that two teams that finished in the last two positions on the log in their respective streams at the end of last season had been relegated to the lower division.

He also mentioned that the 25 teams that finished their league programme on top of their respective local football association streams were promoted to the MMK Administrators Soccer League. The Thulamela Local Football Association promoted 10 teams, while Makhado LFA promoted eight, Collins Chabane LFA four, and Musina promoted three teams.

During the meeting, the president of the association, Mr George Kubayi, indicated that they were concerned about the much-talked-about VBS scandal. He revealed that when the local municipalities encountered financial difficulties, it affected them a great deal as their LFAs received annual grants from the local municipalities.
