Leopards’ sharpshooter, Joseph Mhlongo.
After a break of three weeks, Black Leopards will be back in action this weekend.
They will undertake a journey to Polokwane where they will battle it out with Polokwane City at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday afternoon. A victory for Lidoda Duvha on Sunday will boost their chances to finish their league programme within the Top-8 bracket.
The Thohoyandou outfit are currently in the 12th position on the log with 25 points. It will be time for Polokwane to exact revenge for the 0-1 defeat they suffered at the hands of Leopards in their first Absa Premiership League match at the same venue in August last year.
City stand an outside chance to lift the league title trophy at the end of the season. They are in the sixth spot on the log with 37 points, seven behind the pace setters, Mamelodi Sundowns.
Leopards will be without two of their key players, Isaac Masia and Khuliso Mudau. Masia is under suspension, following the four yellow cards he saw in the team’s previous games, while Mudau was given his marching orders in their game against Highlands Park at the Thohoyandou Stadium early last month.
The likes of Joseph Mhlongo, Mwape Musonda and Phathutshedzo Nange will be expected to do the job in the absence of Mudau and Masia.
Lidoda Duvha will not go back to Thohoyandou after Sunday’s game. They will travel to Johannesburg, where they will play against Orlando Pirates at the Orlando Stadium next Wednesday evening.
The other PSL fixtures are Maritzburg United vs Bloemfontein Celtic, Highlands Park vs Free State Stars, Bidvest Wits vs Orlando Pirates, Lamontville Golden Arrows vs Cape Town City, Kaizer Chiefs vs Baroka FC and Amazulu vs Chippa United.
