Limpopo vs KZN in promotional playoffs

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) are in a jovial mood after their dream of partaking in the promotional playoffs became a reality. The question that remains unanswered is whether they will manage to make the grade in the national event.

Two teams from the National First Division, TTM and Royal Eagles, as well as Maritzburg United, who finished their league programme in the 15th spot on the Absa Premiership log, qualified for this year’s promotional playoffs.

Royal Eagles and Maritzburg United are from KwaZulu Natal, while TTM carry the hopes of the people from Limpopo Province. The opening promotional playoff match was between TTM and Royal Eagles at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban on Wednesday. The result of the match was not yet available at the time of our going to press.

TTM, or Vhadau Vhadamani as they are also known, will play their next two matches at home. They will host Maritzburg at the Thohoyandou Stadium next Wednesday, 22 May. They will again host Royal Eagles at the same venue three days later, on Saturday, 25 May.

They will wrap up their promotional playoffs programme by undertaking a journey to Pietermaritzburg on Saturday, 1 June. That is where they will battle it out against Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

When asked about their state of readiness for the playoffs, the marketing manager of TTM, Mr Livhuwani Madzuhe, said that the team’s head coach, Mr Momcilo Medic, and his technical staff were leaving no stone unturned in their preparations for the event.

Medic’s counterpart in the Maritzburg United camp, Mr Eric Tinkler, was reluctant to comment about next Wednesday’s match against TTM. He stated that his focus was on their match against Royal Eagles, whom they will host in Pietermaritzburg on Sunday afternoon.

He reiterated the fact that his whole focus was on their match against Royal Eagles and that he would start to plan for TTM on Monday.
