A must win for Vhadau vha Damani

After collecting the maximum points at the expense of Jomo Cosmos, whom they thrashed 2-1 at the Wits Rugby Stadium on Tuesday afternoon, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) have a mountain to climb this weekend. They will host the pace setters, Ajax Cape Town, in their GladAfrica Championship League match at the Sturrock Park Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

TTM must win the match if they are serious about gaining automatic promotion to the elite league. A draw will do TTM, or Vhadau vha Damani as they are affectionately called, more harm than good as that would enhance Ajax’s chances for gaining automatic promotion.

TTM will be without their right back, Tshepo “Tower” Makgoga, tomorrow. Makgoga is still serving a suspension after seeing red in their league game against JDR Stars at the Soshanguve Giant Stadium on Sunday, 15 March. TTM will pin their hopes on Mboniseni Mbandlwa, Thembisani Nevhulamba and Wonderboy Makhubo for goals, while Lebohang Mabotja and Carlington Nyadombo will be expected to keep the team’s danger area clean from the onset to the end.

TTM must keep an eagle eye on the Ajax’s top goal scorer, Thendo Mukumela, or else they will not know what will have eaten them at the end of the game.

In the other matches that will also be played on Saturday afternoon, Swallows will host Real Kings at the Makhulong Stadium. TS Galaxy will pay a visit to JDR Stars at the Rand Stadium. The match between Richards Bay FC and Mbombela United will be staged at the Absa Tuks Stadium in Pretoria.

Sunday’s fixtures are: Jomo Cosmos vs Uthongathi FC, Royal Eagles vs TS Galaxy, Cape Umoya United vs Free State Stars and Pretoria University vs Steenberg United. Three matches will be played next Tuesday, 18 August, while five will be played the following day.
