Home Defenders and Munaca in Nedbank Cup clash

Teams affiliated to the Limpopo Stream of the ABC Motsepe League will be engaged in their Nedbank Cup group-stage matches this weekend. The teams have been divided into four groups. All matches will be played on Saturday.

The first group of teams will play their matches at the Jane Furse Stadium in Sekhukhune District. Musina United and Denilton Callies will open the day’s programme at 09:00. Musina secured a place in the group stages after beating Tubatse FC 1-0 at the Seshego Stadium last Saturday. Ditlou FC and Ngoabe City Motors will follow suit at 11:00. The winners of the first two matches will meet later in the afternoon.

The second group of teams will do battle at the Rabali Stadium. Mikhado FC and Ablex United will test each other’s strength at 09:00. This will be followed by the match between Mpheni Home Defenders and Munaca FC. The winner of this match will have only two hours to rest before they meet the winner of the first match at 15:00.

Teams included in the third group will play their matches at the Seshego Stadium. Magezi FC will entertain Mighty FC in the opening match, which is scheduled to kick off at 09:00, followed by the match between Phinnet City FC and The Dolphins FC. The Dolphins FC were the provincial champions in the same competition last year.

The last group of teams will meet at the University of Limpopo Stadium. Fast XI Tigers will rub shoulders with Blackpool FC. Blackpool FC bought their ABC Motsepe League franchise from Venda Football Academy (VFA) about three months ago. Emmanuel FC will take on Giyani Happy Boys towards midday. Emmanuel’s way to the group stage went via Vondwe XI Bullets, whom they beat 2-0 in their preliminary-round match at the Seshego Stadium last Saturday.
