Will Marumo Gallants pay for VFC’s defeat?

The fight for promotion and to escape the relegation axe at the end of the season will continue among the teams campaigning under the auspices of the Motsepe Foundation Championship League this weekend. Three matches will be played on Friday afternoon, with the remaining five scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

The match not to be missed will be between Venda Football Club (VFC) and Marumo Gallants at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday afternoon. VFC and Gallants are still battling to come to terms with the results of their matches last weekend. VFC came back empty-handed from their away fixture against the University of Pretoria FC, to whom they had lost 0-2 at the Absa Tuks Stadium in Pretoria last Sunday.

Marumo Gallants were beaten 2-3 by Black Leopards at the Thohoyandou Stadium last Saturday. The head coach of VFC, Mr Duncan Lechesa, believes that Marumo Gallants will pay for their defeat against the University of Pretoria. He said that their aim was to collect at least nine points in the four matches they will play before they go for the festive holidays.

VFC will play against Casric Stars, Upington City, and NB La Masia, apart from their match Saturday against Marumo Gallants before the Christmas recess. Marumo Gallants will be without their killer striker, Saziso Magawana, on Saturday. He was given his marching orders in last Saturday's game against Black Leopards.

Mr Lechesa's counterpart from Marumo Gallants, Mr Pitso Dladla, has warned VFC to expect a war. Some of VFC's players who are expected to keep Gallants' defenders running for cover throughout the game include Wanga Khorommbi, Moeketsi Sekola, and Thifhelimbilu Magalela. Marumo Gallants and VFC are lying in the 11^th and 13^th positions with 15 and 12 points respectively.
