Will Mpheni Defenders crush Vondwe XI Bullets again?

When Vondwe XI Bullets lost 0-1 to Mpheni Defenders in their ABC Motsepe League match at the Mpheni Grounds three weeks ago, the head coach of Bullets, Mr Lufuno Ndou, was quick to mention that they would fight back when they hosted Defenders in their second-round league match at the Tshifudi Stadium. Whether Ndou’s side will do what he wants them to do remains to be seen.

Bullets are currently lying in the second position on the log standings with 18 points. Should they fail to collect the full points at stake, Defenders will be happy to settle for a draw. Defenders are shining on top of the log with 25 points, seven clear of Vondwe XI Bullets.

The head coach of Defenders, Mr Sydwell Phuravhathu, will be shouting instructions to the boys from the team’s technical bench. Phuravhathu, who doubles up as the chairman of the club, was suspended for three games after seeing red in their game against United Artists at the Malamulele Stadium last month.

Defenders’ goal poachers, Tau Rankoko and Thanzi Mbedzi, will keep the Bullets’ defenders running for cover for the duration of the game if they are not tightly marked. Rankoko broke the hearts of the Bullets' supporters when Defenders beat Bullets 1-0 at the Mpheni Grounds three weeks ago.

Some other matches worth following this weekend are when United Artists will host Winners Park at the Malamulele Stadium. Emmanuel FC will also play in front of their home crowd when they entertain Musina United at the Giyani Stadium. The match between Munaca FC and Maruleng Celtic will be played at the Drakensberg Stadium outside Phalaborwa. The other fixtures are City Motors vs Eleven Fast Tigers, Sun Rise FC vs Mighty FC, Tubatse United vs Tzaneen United, Nkowankowa Continentals vs The Dolphins FC, and Ditlou FC vs Mokopane PJ Stars.
