An apparent argument between two young boys ended with one 11-year-old allegedly stabbing his friend in the chest two weeks ago at Siloam, leading to his friend's death.
The deceased was identified as Thikhedzo Siphuma (11), a Grade 4 pupil at Siloam Primary. The spokesperson for the Siloam police, W/O Edward Tharaga, confirmed the incident and said that the police were still not sure what the cause of the fight between the two children was.
"The two boys were arguing and the one stabbed the deceased in the chest with a sharp object," Tharaga said. "We are still investigating the circumstances which led to Thikhedzo's death."
Ms Maria Siphuma, grandmother of the deceased, said that she received a call informing her about the incident, since she lived in a distant village. She said that she had never imagined that she could lose a grandson at such a tender age and through such an act of brutality. "We are seriously hurting as a family," she said.
The funeral took place last Saturday and it was still not certain when the boy suspected of killing his fellow pupil will appear in court.
