The last two batches of opening matches for the Zama-Zama Sports Challenge will be played at the Homu 14 B Grounds outside Giyani on Thursday and Friday this week. Thirty-two teams from Giyani and surrounding areas are competing for the championship.
Thursday's programme kicks off with Minora FC vs Nyolosi FC at 09:00, followed by MJO FC vs Homu Manchester FC at 11:00. The remaining Thursday fixtures are Vanwanati FC vs Hlahla Northern Bucs and Nwamankena FC vs Giyani Madrid.
Friday's matches are Shawela Madrid vs Thomo Dynamos, Matsakisi United vs Eleven Stars, and Manombe Flying Boys vs Makosha Wonder Boys. The draw for the round of 16 will take place at the grounds after the final Friday match.
Tournament founder and sponsor Mr Victor Hlungwane said this year's champions would receive R75,000, a floating trophy, and gold medals. The runner-up will get R35,000 and silver medals, while semi-finalists will each receive R10,000. Individual awards will be presented to the top goal scorer, best player, best goalkeeper, and best coach.
The first batch of opening matches was played on Monday. The final is scheduled for Wednesday, 31 December. Manombe Flying Boys are the defending champions.
