Music lovers from across the province attended the 8th Munaca Foundation Music Festival, held from 31 December 2025 to 1 January in Mphuphulenzhi village. The festival was once again a major success, drawing more than 20,000 attendees.
The organisers said the festival provided an excellent platform for local musicians to showcase their talent. One of the main drawcards, Makhadzi, was unable to perform after being involved in a car accident, and fans at the venue were asked to pray for her speedy recovery.
Other top performers included veteran musician Dr Colbert Mukwevho, Vhuyi the DJ, Ramzeey, Lufuno Dagada, Asa Tee, Myzophyl, Pro Heed, Fiona Da DJ, DJ Fundisi, and many more.
Festival organiser Walter Ramapala of the Munaca Foundation said the event aims to provide a development platform for local artists, many of whom leave the region to seek opportunities in Johannesburg. “We see the festival as contributing to social cohesion and nation-building while celebrating our African identity through music,” he said. “Our main aim is not to make a profit but to market our area and province and showcase our talent.”
Ramapala added that the foundation also seeks to be a good corporate citizen by contributing to the development of local communities. For the past eight years, it has run a philanthropy programme supporting underprivileged high schools in the Tshitale area.
The Munaca Foundation has hosted the festival free of charge in past years to ensure it is accessible to everyone.
