A fresh breath on the gospel scene

There are times when arts reviewers and commentators hate their jobs, when they have to write on the new stuff which the editor has dropped on their desks. This is because, when the commentator peels off the layers of such a product, it just resembles the one that came last week and the week before that one.
However, the release of Tshilidzi 'C-Man' Tshaduli's first gospel album brings with it a breath of fresh air in the gospel fraternity. The album is aptly titled Mbofholowo and comprises 10 heartwarming songs. "Mbofholowo refers to redemption or a state of being free from one's past," he tells.
He explains that there are people who have shed blood in life while others have terminated pregnancies. He maintains that these people suffer from flashbacks of such experiences. "The demons from the past keep following them and they might need God to put their minds and consciences at peace and at rest," he says.
Standout songs on the album include I believe, Ndi do mushumela, Tribulation and Vha vhudzeni. "I want to tell my listeners that tribulations and sorrows may come, but they must never stop loving God," he says.
Tshaduli hails from Ha-Ravele in the Sinthumule area. He says that his zeal for music as a career was realised in 2006 while he was in the worship team of Trinity Bible Church in Mpumalanga province, where he was studying business management.
This singer's voice will surely grow and develop if he continues keeping his steps on the path which allows him to remain a distinctive voice in the gospel genre. Last year, he distributed a sample copy, titled Lufuno lwa vhabebi (A kind of love which parents give), only for airplay at radio stations. It is only now with his full-length album that Tshaduli has switched from reggae to gospel.
The strength of his album adds to the proof that musicians should always strive for quality and versatility whenever they enter the studio.
