This weekend marks the start of the new soccer season's activities for the ABC Motsepe League. Five matches will be played at different places throughout the province tomorrow afternoon, while the remaining three will be staged on Sunday.
The Tshifudi Stadium will be a hive of activity tomorrow. That is where the much-awaited match between the Vhembe District-based sides, Madridtas and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM), will be played.
Both Madridtas and TTM are newcomers in the ABC Motsepe League. Madridtas bought the franchise from Nkowankowa Barcelona, while TTM purchased their status from Bilika All Stars. TTM will pin their hopes on Lufuno Mugodi, Khathutshelo Mudau and Mutali "Bodelo" Mulaudzi for goals, while the defenders for Madridtas, Maduvha Mudologi and Solomon Noko, will make sure that their danger area is always clean.
Residents of Tshifulanani and the surrounding areas will be able to attend the match between Joe Maweja and Great North FC at the Tshifulanani Stadium tomorrow afternoon. Maweja are still fresh from a 1-0 victory over Madridtas in their Amos Charity Shield Soccer Tournament at the Tshakhuma Malaria grounds last Sunday.
The Mopani derby between Giyani Hotspurs and Bellevue Winners Park will be played at the Giyani Stadium. Winners Park missed becoming the league champions by a whisker last season. Polokwane United and The Dolphins will meet at the Eldorado Stadium in Polokwane, while A1 Terrors will pay a visit to the Boyne Stadium for their match against Boyne United.
Lephalale Young Killers will be the host in their match against Molemole Academy at the TT Cholo Stadium in Polokwane. Gawula Classic and Mokopane Ratanang will battle it out for points at the Giyani Stadium on Sunday. Mighty FC will play against Polokwane Academy at the Polokwane Rugby Stadium.
