The players of Tshakhuma Tshadzivhandila FC played their hearts out to silence the much-feared Mighty FC when they beat them 2-0 in thire ABC Motsepe match played at the Old Peter Mokoba Stadium last Friday.

Tshakhuma created some promising moves from behind in the opening minutes, but their strikers let them down by shooting aimlessly. Their overlapping midfielder, Lucky Ndou, had his chance in the 10th minute. He received a neat pass from Thabang Mahlatsi and shot wide from just outside the box.

The visitors from Tshakhuma knocked on Mighty's door in the 17th minute. Mphedziseni Tshidumo tried his luck from the edge of the box. His volley hit the crossbar and bounced out of the field of play for a goal kick. That did not kill their fighting spirit and they scored their first goal in the 20th minute. Foster Nkuna was on target, following a mix-up within the box.

Mighty effected only one change to their starting line-up. They replaced Calvin Mangele with Ratego Moloto, but he played only four minutes before he got injured. Mighty's centre forward, Ntlobu Mngobi, could not believe his eyes when his volley hit the woodwork and landed outside the field of play for a goal kick. As if that was not enough to upset the team's fans, Lucky Ndou of Tshakhuma's close-range ground cutter missed the goal mouth by inches.

Tshakhuma increased the lead in the 78th minute. Francis Baloyi gave the ball the final touch after a scramble within the box. The last 10 minutes of the game was a war in the true sense of the word. Mighty was threatening to find the net, but the solid defence of their opponents denied them a goal. Tshakhuma's keeper, Senzo Mavhumbule, saved a powerful shot by Sanwell Phala.
