Actress Mokgadi Ramabulana was left speechless upon receiving her first award at the Limpopo Department of Sport, Arts and Culture's prestigious event on 30 September 2025 at The Ranch Hotel. The ceremony combined three significant milestones: the Provincial Literary Awards, the promotion of South African Sign Language, and the commemoration of International Translation Day.

The event celebrated excellence in writing, translation, and storytelling. Ramabulana was awarded R10,000 in cash and a trophy for her outstanding contributions.

Born in Maelula, a small rural village, Ramabulana discovered her passion for acting during her primary school days. "My classmates just laughed at everything I said, and I realised I have a special acting talent," she recalled. Her breakthrough came when Radio Venda (now Phalaphala FM) gave her the opportunity to prove herself.

Many of her fans know her only as "Muthude," the character she portrayed in the acclaimed radio drama Ndiyone Mini Yeneyi? on Phalaphala FM. Over her 40-year career, she has featured in numerous radio dramas, including Ukhokhidzha, Athingafi Ndidotou Lovha, Vhuhadzi Ndinama Na Thole, and Murunzini Wa Duvha. She also appeared in the television drama Muvhango on SABC 2.

Despite the characters she plays, Ramabulana emphasises the importance of education and advises the youth not to emulate the negative traits of her roles. "People often confuse my life with the characters I portray. I tell them I am only acting. I advise the youth not to follow the characters I play in the dramas because they will destroy their future," she said.

Reflecting on her award, Ramabulana expressed gratitude and pride. "Being recognised at such a prestigious event is both humbling and empowering. It reminds me of the importance of using my voice and platform to inspire positive change," she told Limpopo Mirror.
