TSHILWAVHUSIKU – A well-known advocate, Kenneth Sivhaga (34) briefly appeared in the Tshilwavhusiku Magistrate's Court on Monday, on a charge of murder and attempted murder. This follows an incident that took place at one of the taverns in Madombidzha Village on Saturday morning at about 01:00. According to the spokesperson of the Tshilwavhusiku Police Station, Const Thilivhali Maloa, it is alleged that the accused parked his vehicle next to the tavern during the night of the incident. There were three passengers in the vehicle, a man and two ladies.
After parking the vehicle, Sivhaga's friend and one of the ladies got out of the vehicle and walked into the tavern. On their way back to the car they were followed by Mr Bernard Mashavhani (22) of Madombidzha. According to the police statement, Mashavhani confronted the accused's friend in anger, saying the lady the man was walking with, was his girlfriend.
An argument allegedly ensued between the two. The statement indicates that Sivhaga later intervened. He allegedly produced a fire-arm and shot the deceased to death. According to the statement, another bystander, Mr Richmond Sinthumule of Rathidili Village was also injured by a stray bullet during the ordeal. Sivhaga was arrested later that morning. He was not asked to plead when he appeared in court on Monday. He will appear in the same court again today, August 29. He has been in custody since the day of his arrest.
