Adziambei Band drops anticipated "Vhukimvi"

Adziambei Band will release their 21st studio album, "Vhukimvi", on 26 June, much to the delight of their loyal fanbase.

For months, followers of Adziambei Band have waited with growing anticipation, counting down the days since the legendary Tshivenda traditional music group first teased its latest offering earlier this year. Now, the wait is finally over.

On Friday, 26 June, Adziambei Band will officially release its 21st studio album, Vhukimvi, a spiritually uplifting project that has already generated considerable excitement among the group’s loyal fan base.

Known for its rich traditional melodies and thought-provoking lyrics, the Tshanda-based group has built a devoted following over more than four decades, with supporters taking to social media and making enquiries about when the new music would finally become available.

The nine-track album, themed around finding joy and fulfilment in the presence of God, arrives after months of anticipation following media reports earlier this year that the band was working on new material. For many admirers of Adziambei Band, Vhukimvi represents not only another album release but a continuation of a musical journey that has accompanied generations of Tshivenda-speaking households.

Founded in 1982 by veteran musician Maele Elias Sirwali, Adziambei Band remains one of the few traditional music groups to have sustained relevance across generations. Its longevity, coupled with its willingness to embrace digital platforms, has allowed it to retain long-time supporters while attracting younger audiences.

“We have received many calls from people asking when the album would be released. We are humbled by the love and support shown by our followers,” said Sirwali. He added that supporters are encouraged to stream the music on official digital platforms and continue supporting Tshivenda traditional music.
