Four men were arrested for multiple business robberies in Vhembe district, including a spaza shop heist. Police recovered a firearm, stolen goods, and the getaway vehicle, linking them to further crimes. They face charges including robbery and firearm possession.

Four men aged between 35 and 45 were scheduled to appear in the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 25 February, following their arrest in connection with a series of business robberies in the Vhembe district.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Limpopo said the suspects were arrested on Saturday, 21 February, during a tactical intelligence-driven operation led by Thohoyandou detectives with support from the Tactical Response Team.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the arrests followed a business robbery at Dovheni village and other serious crimes reported in the Thohoyandou and Siloam policing areas.

“It is alleged that four armed suspects stormed a spaza shop at Dovheni village, tied up a male employee, and robbed him at gunpoint of groceries, cash and a cellphone before fleeing the scene in a white Nissan NP200 vehicle,” said Ledwaba.

Police tracked and arrested the suspects at Itsani, Tshisaulu and Muledane villages. Officers recovered a 9mm pistol, two empty magazines, nine live rounds of ammunition, groceries believed to be stolen, gloves, a balaclava and the suspected getaway vehicle.

Investigations have linked the suspects to additional offences, including business robbery, burglary and malicious damage to property, including damage to an ATM at a fuel station in the Siloam policing area. The crimes allegedly occurred between January and February 2026.

The suspects are facing charges including business robbery, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, possession of suspected stolen property and malicious damage to property. Police said investigations are continuing and more arrests may follow.
