In their MMK Administrators League replay match at the Makwarela Stadium on Saturday, Makhitha Oscar Stars brutally walloped Makhitha Iya Runga 4-1 to secure a place in the regional promotional play-offs that will be played this weekend.

Iya Runga needed at least a draw in the match to book a place in the play-offs, but what they received was an embarrassing defeat. Stars took the game to their opposition from the first whistle. It took them only nine minutes to open their account. Wisdom Yingwane gave the ball a final touch, following a square pass from Levy Machaba. Ronewa Mpfumba of Stars was cautioned with a card for a dangerous tackle on Humbulani Managa in the 18th minute.

The Stars increased the margin in the 24th minute. They were awarded a penalty after John Ravhutsi handled the ball within his own penalty box. Masala Tshimenze made no mistake from the spot. Referee Mr Eric Munyai flashed another yellow card three minutes before the half-time whistle. Sydney Luvhengo of Stars tackled Zwanga Pharuli from behind and Munyai took no time to reprimand him.

Stars continued to dominate proceedings in the last half. They were rewarded with a third goal in the 58th minute. Rofhiwa Mabila, who came on as a substitute for Mpho Musitha, headed home after the keeper of Iya Runga, Elikana Nemakanga, palmed the ball back into play in an attempt to clear.

Iya Runga used all their substitution chances in the last half. It did not change the complexion of the game, as the Stars continued to enjoy ball possession.

The keeper of Stars, Thanyani Netshipale, was warned with a yellow card for wasting time. Iya Runga pulled one back through Humbulani Managa in the 69th minute. He headed home, following a corner kick that was taken by Masala Ramashia.

Stars put the matter beyond doubt in the 84th minute when Jonas Ndou scored with a ground cutter.
