ANC Limpopo secretary Reuben Madadzhe has confirmed that a party member has approached the Limpopo High Court to interdict the 11th provincial elective conference, scheduled for March 27 to 29 in Polokwane.
Speaking to the media on March 26, Madadzhe said preparations were complete and the conference would proceed despite the challenge by a Ward 10 member from the Collins Chabane Local Municipality in Vhembe District Municipality.
Basil Mabasa is seeking to halt the conference, citing concerns over branch general meetings (BGMs), delegate accreditation and alleged nomination irregularities.
Madadzhe, however, said he was confident the court would allow the event to proceed.
The conference, running from Friday to Sunday, is set to elect the ANC’s top five provincial leaders, a process with significant implications for both party and government leadership in Limpopo.
Meanwhile, two dominant factions have reportedly agreed on a unity slate, involving supporters of Premier Phophi Ramathuba and a group aligned with John Mpe. The proposed line-up could see Ramathuba as chairperson and Mpe as deputy, with Madadzhe, Pule Shayi and Eddie Maila filling the remaining top positions.
The court outcome is expected later today, 27 March.
