The Limpopo police are calling for assistance in locating the occupants of a brownish Mercedes-Benz A200, which was involved in an armed robbery at Makhado Crossing in Louis Trichardt on Tuesday at around 09:00.
According to Vhembe police spokesperson W/O Vuledzani Dathi, it is alleged that a man entered one of the banks at the shopping mall with the intention of opening a bank account. He was in possession of a bag containing his wallet, a pair of sunglasses, and a passport.
Dathi said that while the victim was entering the bank, two unknown African males approached and robbed him of his bag at gunpoint. "Two shots were fired outside the bank towards the gate," said Dathi.
Immediately after the robbery, the suspects jumped into a brownish Mercedes-Benz A200 and fled the scene. "No cash was taken, and no one was injured," said Dathi.
At the time of our going to press, the identity of the suspects remained unknown. The police have asked members of the public who can identify the vehicle or the suspects to contact the investigating officer, Sgt Kwinda Shumani, on Tel. (071) 355-0575.
"Police investigations are ongoing," said Dathi. Makhado Crossing has been the site of numerous armed robberies in the past.
