After giving away vital league points to Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies FC in their Hollywoodbets Super League match played at the Loftus Stadium in Pretoria last weekend, Maindis Ladies are gearing up for another tough match this weekend. They will visit JVW FC at the Tsakane Stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday.
Maindis are still to win a league match to date. They conceded five goals in the two games they have played so far. They lost 0-2 to Royal AM FC in their opening match played at the Giyani Stadium before they travelled to Pretoria for their match against Mamelodi Sundowns.
The head coach of Maindis, Mr Sipho Mabuza, is adamant that his team will collect the maximum points, no matter what JVW will come up with. According to him, they were working on the strikers' target shooting at their training sessions throughout the week. He said that his team had managed to create numerous scoring chances in their first two games, but they had been let down by their strikers, who had panicked at shooting range.
JVW will have to double their efforts to break the wall of Maindis, which is marshalled by Kelebone Mnisi and Purity Mugayi, while Shamiso Mutasa and Noko Lamola are expected to keep the opposition defenders running for cover throughout the game.
Also on Sunday, First Touch Academy will entertain Mamelodi Sundowns at the Seshego Stadium in Polokwane. Copper Belts will enjoy the home-ground advantage in their game against Royal AM, which will be played at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. Richmond United will play against Durban Ladies in one of the five matches scheduled for Saturday.
Coal City Wizards will battle for league points with Thunderbirds Ladies at the Puma Rugby Stadium in Emalahleni. The other weekend fixtures are TS Galaxy Queens vs TUT Ladies FC, UWC Ladies FC vs University of Johannesburg, and City Lads vs University of Pretoria Ladies FC.
