After securing their first victory last Saturday, Venda Football Club (VFC) are determined to add more points to their league tally when they host NB La Masia FC in their Motsepe Foundation Championship League match at Thohoyandou Stadium on Friday afternoon.
VFC emerged victorious with a 1-0 win against Platinum City Rovers at the same venue last Saturday. The win marked a positive start for Mr. Johnny Ferreira, who was appointed as technical director just last week. Their upcoming match against La Masia will be the third consecutive game for VFC in front of their home crowd.
Head coach Mr Joel Masutha is optimistic that La Masia will leave Thohoyandou empty-handed. He mentioned that they had been working on the players' target shooting during the team's training sessions this week to prevent a recurrence of the missed scoring opportunities they had faced in last Saturday's game against City Rovers.
If VFC can secure all three points against La Masia, they have a good chance of moving up from eighth position to fourth on the league standings.
In other weekend fixtures, Black Leopards will host Upington City at Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday. Leopards are yet to secure a victory this season and have only managed to collect one point in four matches so far.
Baroka FC will travel to Siyabuswa in Mpumalanga for their match against Casric Stars at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium. Additionally, other fixtures will take place, including Orbit College FC vs. University of Pretoria, Maritzburg United vs. Magesi FC, Hungry Lions vs. Platinum City Rovers, JDR Stars vs. Marumo Gallants, and Pretoria Callies vs. Milford FC.
