Another family from Ha-Madodonga in the Kutama area is in mourning after a heated argument between two men resulted in the death of one of them.

According to the provincial spokesperson for the police, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo, the incident occurred on Sunday, 4 September, when Maanda Murulana (32) was stabbed in the head and chest several times with a knife after getting into a fight with an 18-year-old suspect.

Murulana was declared dead at the scene. The suspect was arrested immediately and charged with murder. He appeared in the Tshilwavhusiku Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, 7 September.

Murulana is the third person from this village to be stabbed to death in a short space of time, and residents' concerns are growing by the day.

Vhamusanda Vho-Ntanganedzeni Kutama said he was shocked to learn about the incident. "I got the news that community members were angry about the ongoing killings among residents and threatened to take the law into their own hands. I realised that, unless I acted quickly by addressing my people, more murders might occur in the village. I advised the community to refrain from using violence and not to take the law into their own hands," he said.

Kutama said that they were very concerned about the killings in the area. "In a very short space of time, we have already lost three lives through crime. We are planning to hold a meeting and come up with ways to combat this scourge, after we have consulted with other structures in the village," Kutama said.
