A case of murder is being investigated by the police after a 42-year-old man from Zamenkomste village, in the Kutama area, was stabbed to death at a local tavern earlier this month.

Although information regarding the incident is still sketchy, the police report states that the deceased, Morris Semata, got into a serious argument with a group of young men at the tavern on the night of 2 June. The argument allegedly resulted in a fight, during which Semata was stabbed in the chest and under his left arm with a sharp object. He died at the scene.

On Sunday, 4 June, members of the community apparently hunted for the suspect at his home at the nearby Ha- Manavhela village, but they could not find him. The local traditional leader intervened and pleaded with the angry mob not to harm the man if they found him. The 22-year-old suspect, however, was arrested by the police that same day.

Tendani Siepa appeared in the Tshilwavhusiku Magistrate's Court on 6 June on a charge of murder. His case was postponed to 19 June for a formal bail application.

Semata was buried at the Zamenkomste Cemetery on Saturday, 10 June.
