Another NFD defeat for Black Leopards

Black Leopards are sliding dangerously down the NFD league log. They lost again when Royal Eagles beat them 1-0 at the Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg last Saturday.

The goal that earned the Eagles three valuable points came in the sixth minute. Eagles were awarded a penalty after Katlego Mphela was brought down within the box. Siyanda Ngubo made no mistake from the white spot.

Thanda Royal Zulu used their home-ground advantage to beat Cape Town All Stars 1-0 at the Umhlatuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay. Matshepe Kumane scored from a free kick three minutes before the half-time break.

There was a real thriller at the Puma Rugby Stadium in Emalahleni when Witbank Spurs lost 2-3 to FC Cape Town. The home side were the first to draw the blood via Thabang Rooi in the 18th minute. The African Beasts fought back two minutes into the last half through Siphiwe Gwala.

Bongani Mathebele scored the second for FC Cape Town in the 67th minute, but Thabang Rooi was on target again a few moments later. The visitors from Cape Town took the lead again via Solly Stevens in the 88th minute.

It was a tight and evenly contested game with few chances at the Charles Mopedi Stadium in Phuthaditshaba where African Warriors played to a goalless draw with Mthatha Bucks. Highlandspark rose to the occasion and held the logleaders, Baroka FC, to a goalless draw at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

Although they were the first to find the net, Moroka Swallows gave away league points to Milano United at the Dobsonville Stadium in Johannesburg. Tshepo Moloto scored for Swallows in the 24th minute. Gregory Roelf scored for the Cape Town side in the 44th minute. Morne Davids scored United's winning goal later in the game.

Vasco da Gama lost 0-1 to Amazulu at the Parow Park Stadium in Cape Town, thanks to Zaid Patel's header in the 79th minute.
