Fans of the Xitsonga music group, the Oscar Makamu Na Majuvani Sisters, have found new delight in their latest album release, titled "Tiko Axi Etleli," which offers music lovers 14 inspirational and uplifting melodies. This marks the group's 13th album so far.
The Oscar Makamu Na Majuvani Sisters was formed by Kulani Makamu, known by the stage name Oscar Makamu, in 2007. Collaborating with Kenneth Landela, Rilaveta Landela, and Vutlhari Chauke, also known as N'wa Dr., these four talented artists from Mavambe village in Malamulele joined forces to create a musical journey that captivated the Xitsonga music scene over the years.
The group has been recognised with several awards, including the Xmas 16 Xitsonga Music Awards for Best Group of the Year in 2020 with their album "Manyora", released in 2019, and Xmas 17 for the Best Traditional Album in 2021 with their album "Vele Raxifambi," released last year.
"Tiko Axi Etleli" was produced by Redboy Mchangani and features other artists, including guitarist Abel Chauke, also known as Xinghalani.
Oscar Makamu's music journey began at a young age, greatly inspired by legendary Xitsonga musicians, including the late Matshwa Bemuda, whom he used to imitate. He shared a little about the new album, saying, "Each song carries a profound message, urging listeners to embrace life's challenges with unwavering determination. We are humbled by the unfailing support we have received from our fans over the years, also with this latest project," he said.
