Phathutshedzo Enos Madzhuta (36) is not a new name in the literary industry. His debut Venda poetry collection, Tshisima tsha ntha ha muri, was released in November 2022. He then vanished from the scene for almost three years before resurfacing with another book three weeks ago.

Madzhuta, a resident of Itsani in the Tshisahulu area, said he had been working behind the scenes after publishing his first book. He said Tshisima tsha ntha ha muri was still in demand, even though it had been on the market for nearly three years. His new publication, Thavha ya mipfa, contains 42 poems.

Some of the poems in the new collection likely to please Madzhuta's fans include Ro dzidzivhala Thohoyandou, Mbilu yo vhaiswaho and Tshililo tsha mubebi. Ro dzidzivhala Thohoyandou is about sex workers who become a common sight on every street corner in the town after dark. In the poem, he appeals to the authorities to act quickly, warning that Thohoyandou could soon become "the capital city for prostitution."

In Mbilu yo vhaiswaho, Madzhuta highlights the agony of a dumped lover.

He said the book was dedicated to all people, irrespective of gender, age or religious affiliation. According to him, the book is available at most local bookshops. Asked about his short- and long-term plans, Madzhuta said his followers could expect another publication towards the end of next year.
