From the quiet village of Niani Malale in Venda emerges a voice full of hope, rhythm and ambition — Arly Wayne SA. The young artist is gaining attention for his heartfelt lyrics and evolving sound, blending the storytelling of Venrap with the energy of Afrobeats.
"I grew up at Niani Malale, raised by my mother and father. I did Venrap music from 2019 to 2023, then I switched to Afrobeats," he said. "I had to use 'SA' in my name to show that I am from South Africa."
His upbringing played a vital role in shaping his identity. "I grew up in a family that really loved music, so I decided to do music as well. All thanks to my parents for giving me hope and showing me it is possible."
Between 2019 and 2023, Arly Wayne's sound was defined by Venrap — a popular genre in Venda combining rap with local rhythms and dialect. He credits Prifix and Meskay as early influences, calling them "youth models" who inspired his start. Later, international Afrobeats stars such as Omah Lay, Unarine, and Burna Boy encouraged him to refine his sound and reach wider audiences. "When I was still at Malale, people loved Venrap, so I did the same and got recognition. Then I pushed harder until I switched to Afrobeats," he said.
His latest project explores personal growth, healing and self-discovery. On Motivation, he seeks to uplift those "who feel like letting go in life." Far Away was inspired by his brother, Mr SpeakOut, while No More offers an emotional glimpse into his transformation. "The song is emotional and heartbreaking if you listen properly. The title No More is about no more tears, no more weaknesses — so I told myself to be stronger," he said.
"When I write music, it depends on my mood. I start with lyrics before finding the right beat. Sometimes I begin by praying to motivate myself emotionally," he added.
Known for his energetic performances, Arly Wayne enjoys connecting with audiences through his lyrics. "I like it when people sing along. It makes me feel energetic," he said.
Looking ahead, he plans to release three albums and five EPs next year, with hopes of collaborating with international artists. From humble beginnings in Venda to a growing Afrobeats career, his journey is one of determination, growth and musical passion.
