Upcoming artist Asakundwi Mulaudzi, popularly known as Asa Tee Tee, is steadily making his mark in the Afro hip-hop market. The singer just released his debut album, called Ndo Balelwa, which already seems to be doing quite well commercially.

The 11-track album, which includes songs such as Wofhela, Ndi khou baleliwa, Ngoho and Rubber, is dedicated to music fans from all age groups.

"I don't like blowing my own horn, but in the music industry you've got to communicate with your fans through the radio. This is where people get to know about your work. This album is selling very well so far, with the demand being higher than I can supply at the moment," he said.

Mulaudzi studied for his diploma in technical engineering at the Vaal University of Technology. While he was there, he used his spare time to write songs with the aim of recording his first album with his manager, Raymond Nemutshili.

One challenge he struggles to come to terms with, like so many other local musicians, is piracy. "There are no more music shops in town because artists cannot compete with people who sell our music for next to nothing. Pirates make a lot of money from our music and that is why I included the song Ama ten-ten (Stop Piracy) in my new project," he said.

Music, he feels, should appeal to the hearing sense even before it lodges itself into the listener's mind and wins the heart over. "I know that it is very difficult to make it in this industry, but I am happy right now. Through the support of my fans, I am moving closer to my destination every day."

The album is available at local music outlets. For more information on Asa Tee Tee, call 071 312 2260, 071 319 2587, 071 319 2587, or send an email to mulaudziasakundwi7@gmail.com, or follow him on Facebook (Asa Tee) or Instagram (asa_tee21).
