The N1 between Louis Trichardt and Musina was reopened after yet another fatal accident at the notorious hairpin curve near in the old Ingwe hotel earlier this morning (17 March). The crash claimed the lives of at least three people.
According to reports, the accident involved a truck, a light motor vehicle and a minibus-taxi. Following the crash, the truck rolled down the mountain. All three of the deceased were apparently passengers in the minibus-taxi. At least 12 people were injured with their injuries ranging from critical to minor.
Following the accident, the N1 was closed for several hours to allow the police's forensic unit to document the scene and for rescue and recovery workers to clear the carnage.
