After six years of existence, Musina FM Radio held an awards ceremony in honour of all presenters who had contributed to their growth during the past years.
The awards ceremony was held at Nancfield Community Hall on Saturday evening and the presenters received certificates, medals and trophies during the event.
According to station manager Ms Selina Phiri, the main purpose of recognising individuals involved in the informing of the community was to motivate and encourage them to continue involving themselves in radio. Two of the station's staff members, Vuledzani "Mushavhi" Pilani and Maria Sehlapelo, received the most prestigious awards during the ceremony. The two were nominated by the listeners as the best news presenter and the best presenter.
"We appreciate our local business partners who are advertising their businesses with us and we are what we are because of you support. You are like someone who ploughs seed into fertile soil. One day you will reap what you sow, and we hope we are growing bigger and bigger because of your support," said Phiri.
According to the mayor, Clr Mihloti Ramoyada, radio provided information, education and entertainment to the vast majority of people within the Vhembe region. "We urge our advertisers to be Musina FM's ambassadors, so that it can serve the communities around the Vhembe region with pride. Our station provides the platform for the community to address and understand issues of politics, agriculture, sports, gender, youth development, women and children," said Ramoyada.
Several local businesses that have contributed towards the growth of the station include Nzhelele Funerals, Matshivha, Mega, Mrs Matundu, Mandice Gen and Freedom Park Bakery.
