"Hard works pays," said Mr Basil Manganyi, chief executive officer of the Xisasi group. He was the guest speaker at the awards ceremony of Wayeni Sea Robbers at Wayeni two weeks ago. Robbers won Stream F of the Safa Vhembe MMK Admistrators League.
"Sport is an important vehicle to cause harmonious interaction between people," said Manganyi. He applauded the quality of sports development in Vhembe and the Hlanganani areas.
He said that the youth should become involved in different sporting codes and that sport and education were the keys to the future of the youth. He requested them to stay away from crime and alcohol and to be aware of the threat of HIV/Aids.
According to the chairperson of the team, Mr Bolly Baloyi, the main purpose of the function was to motivate the players to work hard in the new season. He applauded those who received the awards as the team regarded them as role models for other young people.
The players who received trophies, medals or certificates for their achievements were: Kulani Madlakati (players' player of the season and most disciplined player); Vusi Sambo (most improved player); Mikateko Ngomanae (goal scorer award) and Omo Baloyi (chairman's award).
