MANGONDI - An 18-year-old athlete from the Tshakhuma Athletics Club will be among the South African athletes who will be participating in the Commonwealth Youth Games to be held in Bendigo, Australia, later this month.

Azwinaki Ndou, a Grade 12 student at Gole Secondary School at Mangondi Village, has qualified to participate in the Commonwealth Youth Games, after an excellent cross-country season. She recently won a 10km cross country race in Bloemfontein.

Azwinaki told Mirror that she is training hard in order to return to South Africa, especially Limpopo Province, with a medal. She is the fourth child in a family of seven and started her athletics career at Numbedzeni Primary. Because of her dedication to athletics, Standard Bank has decided to sponsor her.

Her trainer, Mr Baldwin Masutha said he has no doubt that the young athlete, Azwinaki, would perform well and he encouraged all South Africans to support her.
