Ten workers at a bakery were held at gunpoint and locked inside their workplace during an early morning robbery in Mudabula village near Malamulele on Monday, 23 March.

According to police, the incident happened at about 01:15 while the employees were on duty. An unknown man entered the bakery and ordered the workers to lie on the floor. Police said the suspect was armed.

While the workers were being held inside, four other men gained access to the property by breaking open the back gate. They then tampered with security cameras and cut through a steel door leading to a storeroom where a safe was kept.

The suspects stole an undisclosed amount of money from the safe before fleeing.

The workers were locked inside the premises and were only freed later when another employee arrived for duty and discovered them.

Police in Malamulele have opened a case of business robbery and launched a manhunt for the suspects.
