Bank official's case postponed

The ABSA bank official who is accused of stealing R25 million from the Limpopo Provincial Government, appeared in the Waterval Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. His case was postponed to 20 October for further investigation.

The ABSA bank official who is accused of stealing R25 million from the Limpopo Provincial Government, appeared in the Waterval Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. His case was postponed to 20 October for further investigation.

The accused, Fhatuwani Mudzanani (27) of Mashau, who worked as an Absa bank consultant at Elim, is charged with transferring money out of the said department's accounts to accounts linked to himself.

Mudzanani was arrested three months ago by the Hawks. Four bank cards and about R2 000 in cash were seized from his house during the arrest. The Hawks issued a statement saying that they had been investigating the case for about a month prior to the arrest.

Mudzanani was released on bail of R10 000.
