After collecting only one point in their previous two matches, Baroka FC made amends and collected the maximum points last Saturday. They beat Cape Town All Stars 4-0 at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town to maintain their leadership on the log.
Baroka made their intentions clear from the onset. Their top goal scorer, Thabiso Kutumela, was on target in the 17th minute. Victory Letsoalo made it 2-0 in the 29th minute, following a neat pass from Kutumela. The third goal arrived 10 minutes into the second half when Dumisani Ngwenya beat the keeper with a ground cutter. Thabiso Kutumela completed his brace in the 85th minute when he rounded the keeper before unleashing a half volley.
Highlandspark continued to pave their way up by beating Vasco da Gama 2-0 in Thembisa. Peter Shalulile scored the first goal in the 77th minute. The home side were awarded a penalty three minutes later. Jermain Christian converted from the spot to bring the final score to 2-0.
Things continued to move from bad to worse in the camp of Moroka Swallows. They lost 1-4 to African Warriors at the Dobsonville Stadium. Ange Libayi netted twice for the Free State side, while the third and fourth were scored by Mfundo Mbele and Boysen Mbatha respectively. Swallows' solitary goal came via David Skhosana towards the end of the first half.
Black Leopards lost 0-1 to Witbank Spurs at the Thohoyandou Stadium. (See the report elsewhere). Thanda Royal Zulu and FC Cape Town shared the spoils, following their goalless draw. Milano United kept their title hopes alive by beating Royal Eagles 2-0 at the Cape Town Stadium on Sunday. Mbombela United drew 1-1 with Mthatha Bucks at the Mthatha Stadium.
