Lwamondo Secondary School's beloved teacher, Mr Robert Takalani Mutavhatsindi, was laid to rest during an emotional funeral at the Tshisahulu graveyard on Saturday.

Mutavhatsindi (49) of Riverside, Tshisahulu, shot himself at his home in the early hours of Monday morning last week. He was the first deputy principal at the school. Circumstances leading to the shooting are not known as he did not leave any suicide note.

Colleagues, family members, friends, pupils and community members came in their numbers to pay their last respects to the beloved teacher. Pupil lined the road as a guard of honour to the graveyard. Teachers, led by the principal, Mr Tshimangadzo Tshubwana, served as pallbearers

Tshubwana said the passing away of Mutavhatsindi was a big blow to the school. "He was loved by everyone and was my pillar of strength who was always ready to go the extra mile. He was a hard worker who did his work selflessly and was part of the teachers who ensured that the school produced a 100% pass rate in the 2013 Grade 12 examinations. He will be sorely missed by the Lwamondo Secondary School community," he said.
