Berea FC are still in a joyous mood after being crowned champions of the NCNV Holdings and Imvelo Security Soccer Tournament played at Makonde Stadium last Sunday. They beat Musasenda Big Five 4-2 in the final to lift the trophy. Berea were presented with R10,000, a floating trophy, and gold medals during a ceremony at the stadium shortly after the game.
Berea's path to the final included a narrow 1-0 victory over ABC FC in their quarter-final match at the same venue on Saturday. Their semi-final match was against Ngwenani Young Chiefs, whom they beat 11-10 in a penalty shootout, after a goalless draw at the end of regulation time on Sunday morning.
Musasenda Big Five took home R5,000, silver medals, and a small trophy. Their journey to the final was rocky and challenging. They narrowly defeated Saudi FC 6-5 in their quarter-final match and secured a 3-2 victory over Sambandou United Professionals in their semi-final game. The teams eliminated in the semi-final round, Ngwenani Young Chiefs and Sambandou United Professionals, each received R2,000.
Sixteen teams from around Vhembe participated in the tournament.
