A group of motorcycle enthusiasts visited police stations in the Limpopo province the past weekend to create awareness of the escalation in farm attacks.
The group, led by Pastor Tobias Johannes Marais, arrived in Louis Trichardt on Saturday morning and visited the Makado police station. Here they met up with the station commander, Col Mabatha, the station management, members of the local Farm Watch, Sector Crime Forum members and the CPF.
In a memorandum handed over to the station commander, the bikers expressed their appreciation for the work being done by the local SAPS and the other stakeholders in ensuring the safety of the rural community. They encouraged the partnerships in policing to continue.
The group of 25 bikers then travelled to Thohoyandou police station, where a memorandum of appreciation was handed to the station commander, Brig Mashava. The brigadier was accompanied by the CPF chairperson, Mr Netshiombo.
Pastor Marias said that they appreciated the role that the SAPS members played in arresting dangerous criminals and in preventing more farm attacks and killings. He encouraged the police to maintain the good relationship with farmers.
The station commander, Brig Mashava, gave the assurance that the police would always go the extra mile to prevent farm attacks or killings in the area.
The group of motorcyclists also visited the Mphephu SAPS to hand over a memorandum.
