The newcomers in the MMK Administrators League, Makhitha Yellow Birds, held their much-feared opponents, Madombidzha Western Stars to a 2-all draw at Makhitha on Sunday.

Birds showed a spirit of commitment, with their midfielders distributing telling passes to the front-runners. Their right flank, Masala Mudau, was unfortunate in the 9th minute, when he shot wide from close range.

Birds conceded a goal in the 17th minute. Percy "Quantum" Munonoka gave the ball a final touch, following a square pass from Andries Phala. Stars enjoyed the lead until the proceedings for the first half came to an end.

Stars had an opportunity for a goal in the opening minutes of the last half, but Reginald Mukhumeni shot into the hands of the opponents' keeper, Engedzani Musiahana. Birds' misfortunes continued in the 56th minute, when Shin Monyeleote shot over the bar, with only the keeper to beat. Ronewa Nemakhavhani of Stars was yellow-carded for rough tackling.

Birds then replaced Terrence Tshinda, Shumani Ramalamula and Mbulaheni Makhokha for Itani Dzabuli, Mubvafhi Lifuwa and Shumani Mudau.

The visitors from Madombidzha increased the lead through Timmy Mashau.

Ratshilima then capitalized on a clearing error and beat the keeper with a ground cutter. Shortly thereafter, Frans Lethole of Birds was reprimanded with a card for a late tackle on Zwanga Mashau.

Stars committed suicide by playing defensive football in the last minutes. That gave the home side (Birds) the chance to invade their territory and they subsequently scored an equalizer via Muvhulawa Rambuda.
