This weekend will be a busy one for the teams campaigning under the banner of the Motsepe Foundation Championship League.
After donating vital league points to Uthongathi FC, to whom they lost 1-2 at the Malamulele Stadium last Saturday, Black Leopards will play another league game in front of their home crowd this weekend. Lidoda duvha will host University of Pretoria FC at the same venue on Saturday afternoon.
The Thohoyandou side must win the match at all costs to restore their lost pride. Black Leopards are still to win a league match this year. They were held to a 1-1 draw by Venda Football Academy (VFA) at the Thohoyandou Stadium two weeks ago. They were also held to a goalless draw by Cape Town All Stars in their midweek game that was played at the Bidvest Stadium in Johannesburg last Wednesday (18th) before they came back home to donate more points to Uthongathi FC last Saturday. Leopards are lying at the bottom of the log with 12 points, following a string of poor results in their last seven matches.
The senior coach of the team, Mr Rodwell Dhlakama, is adamant that losing home matches would soon be a thing of the past to his team. He said that they were working on the strikers' target shooting at training sessions this week to avoid a recurrence of what had happened to them in previous games. Dhlakama said that his team would be lying in a respectable position on the log standings, had they managed to convert the scoring chances in their previous games.
The defenders of Amatuks will have a mammoth task to stop the Leopards strikers, Tiklas Thutlwa, Bethuel Muzeu and Matimu Tshabalala, while Rafik Namwera, Wiseman Maluleke and Donald Makgetlwa will be expected to make things happen in the middle of the park.
