The fight for promotion and to escape the relegation axe will continue among the teams affiliated with the Motsepe Foundation Championship League this weekend. All roads will lead to Thohoyandou Stadium on Sunday afternoon, where the match between Black Leopards and Hungry Lions will take place.
Black Leopards must collect the full points at stake to remain in the race for promotion. Lidoda duvha are lying in the 11th position on the log standings with 17 points. Black Leopards' record, however, against Hungry Lions is not impressive. Hungry Lions had managed to win two of the four matches the two teams played against each other, while the other two ended in a draw.
The Kimberley side is closely contesting for the league title in the third spot on the log standings with 23 points. Black Leopards are still recovering from the 0-2 defeat they suffered at the hands of NB La Masia at the Bidvest Stadium in Johannesburg last Friday. On the other hand, Hungry Lions are in joyous mood after beating JDR Stars 2-1 at the Galeshewe Stadium in Kimberley last Saturday.
Whether the combination of Bethuel Muzeu, Rophney Hlungwane, and the Ivorian sharpshooter, Jean Golly, will manage to produce the desired result is something that remains to be seen. Tshepo Matsimbi, Thendo Mukula, and Amukelani Chauke will be expected to keep the Leopards' danger area clean throughout the game.
Venda Football Club will play against Casric Stars at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium in Siyabuswa, Mpumalanga. The other fixtures are Pretoria Callies vs Platinum City Rovers, Marumo Gallants vs Maritzburg United, Orbit College vs Magesi FC, Upington City vs JDR Stars, Baroka FC vs University of Pretoria, and NB La Masia vs Milford FC.
