Black Leopards FC will have only themselves to blame if the team fails to gain promotion to the Betway Premiership Division at the end of the 2024/25 Motsepe Foundation Championship league season. The team received well-wishes from traditional, political, and religious leaders during the United African Apostolic Church service at Vhufuli village outside Thohoyandou last Sunday.
When addressing congregants during the service, the provincial secretary of the African National Congress (ANC) in Limpopo, Vhamusanda Vho Reuben Madadzhe, said that he was happy to see that the misunderstanding between Black Leopards and the Thulamela Municipality over the amount the club had been charged for using the Thohoyandou Stadium was now a thing of the past.
He revealed that the team will henceforth use the facility for most of their home games, following the municipality's decision to slash the original tariff by more than 50%. He further stated that Black Leopards, like many other professional clubs, played a significant role in the community towards poverty alleviation.
The technical team and players were introduced to the congregants during the service. Mr Maxwell Konadu is the new head coach of the team. The Ghanaian national will be assisted by Mr Solly Luvhengo, who was the head coach for the better part of the last soccer season.
Some of the players who were introduced during the service include the former Orlando Pirates and Moroka Swallows striker, Mwape Musonda, and the Namibian international, Bethuel Muzeu. Muzeu's introduction brings to an end the speculations that the team's sharpshooter was on his way out after his superb performance for Lidoda Duvha last season. Muzeu was the team's top goal scorer last season with 17 goals.
