THOHOYANDOU – Black Leopards registered their first league victory when they walloped Hellenic 2-0 in their PSL encounter that was played at Thohoyandou Stadium on Sunday.

The Thohoyandou outfit took the lead in the 1st minute. Japhta Mabosho blasted in a loose ball following a corner kick taken by Richard Lishivha. Mabosho caused an upset nine minutes thereafter when he chose to shoot straight to the keeper from inside the box. The Hellenic midfielder, Theo Hempe was lucky to escape with a verbal warning for kicking Bongani Masangane on the chest.

The Greek gods effected their first change in the 40th minute when they replaced Vuyo Mere with Naughty Mokoena. Black Leopards squandered several scoring opportunities towards the end of the first half. Byala Mushadu scored Li do da duvha's second goal in the 50th minute.

Godfrey Ramudzuli crossed the ball to the box from where Mushadu blasted it in after a scramble for the ball. The Leopards' keeper, Silver Tshabalala was caused to stretch to the limit to save Vuyo Mere's volley. The home side introduced Vusi Kharivhe, Coxwell Ratshivhadelo and Rudzani Ramudzuli for Byala Mushadu, Jafta Mabosho and John Ndou respectively.

As if they were leading, Hellenic took their time and relaxed on the ball in the middle of the park. Leopards' new signee, Bennet Gama was a live wire in the centre of the pitch. He continuously distributed dangerous balls to his front-runners. That was the first victory for Leopards in a league match this season. They lost 1-2 to both Golden Arrows and African Wanderers in their first two matches.
