Nzhelele women's Sports Promoters will stage a professional boxing tournament at the 2Ten Sibasa Hotel on 28 December.

Zolile Miya and Clever Mdingi will be the first to enter the ring. Their flyweight bout is scheduled over six rounds. Another six-round bout is the flyweight fight between Jenson Mudzanani and Rofhiwa Maphupha. Anthony Moloise will take on Tshifhiwa "Timer" Munyai in their lightweight fight over eight rounds.

Two local lightweights, Thizwilondi Nempandoni and Pfariso Neluvhalani, will also meet over six rounds, while Prince Ndlovu will defend his Limpopo Junior lightweight title against Sifiso Hlungwane in a fight scheduled over 10 rounds.

The main supporting bout will be between former IBF world junior featherweight champion Jeffrey "Magoose" Mathebula and former featherweight champion of the WBA and IBF Lehlonolo "Hands of Stone" Ledwaba. They will meet in a non-title fight over 10 rounds.

Sparks are expected to fly when Rofhiwa Maemu and Humbulani Netshandama will meet in the main bout of the evening for the South African junior lightweight title. The fight will take place over 10 rounds. Maemu is adamant that he will outclass Netshandama. "I am well prepared well for the event, and I am sure that I will win at the end of the fight." Netshandama also said that he was ready, physically and emotionally fit, and there was no way Maemu would beat him.

The promoter, Ms Mashudu Nemulalate Nekokwane, promised that the fights would produce maximum entertainment. "Limpopo has an abundance of talent when it comes to boxing. We must nurture and promote them to achieve greater heights, so that we can galvanise the future of boxing."

The tournament will start at 18:00. Tickets cost R150 per person.
