Bricklayer badly beaten over wages

Mr Thomas Chauke (21) of Mabunda Village was badly beaten by three suspects during a quarrel over wages last Sunday.

MABUNDA - Mr Thomas Chauke (21) of Mabunda Village was badly beaten by three suspects during a quarrel over wages last Sunday.

Chauke (21) told Mirror that he has been working as an assistant bricklayer in the contract construction division of the RDP houses at the Mabunda village.

Chauke alleged that his employer agreed with him that he would pay him an amount of R120 per month. He stated that last Sunday he went to his boss to get payment. It is alleged that the argument over payment ended in a quarrel and three suspects attacked Chauke.

He was badly beaten and taken to the Tshilidzini hospital for treatment. A case of assault was opened against three suspects and the police
